Why ECS?
In today’s world, there is a lot of confusion about the nature of the electronics recycling industry. There are hundreds of companies that call themselves "recyclers", however most of them don't physically recycle anything at all. ECS Refining is one of the few companies in the world which can make this claim.
We actually own and process the electronics we receive within the US. We’re also one of the few recyclers which are e-Stewards Certified® and an e-Stewards Founder, meaning we wanted to lead the global effort from the beginning to ethically and domestically process materials, ensuring no non-working electronics are shipped outside the United States to impoverished nations.
Over 30 years ago we started with a simple offering from founders Jim and Ken Taggart who were interested in finding ways to extract metal from electronics and smelt them into raw materials such as gold, silver, copper and more. From that time they expanded the business to the full service recycling leader we are today, and as stewards of the environment, our priority is to refurbish and reuse first.
We are also innovators who have optimized our processes to recycle 100% of electronics materials at our national state-of-the art processing facilities, while keeping intact the principles we established in our beginning years. We do a good job, charge a fair price and ensure our customers are happy with the results; We ensure that non-working electronics are never shipped to third world countries and support initiatives like BAN e-Stewards and the Federal Coalition of American Electronics Recyclers.
We care about our environment, employees, customers, and partners, and this is the ECS Difference.
